Did you know that next to making an actual in-person visit with your MLA the most powerful way to communicate with him or her is via telephone? 

We have created a telephone campaign just for you! It's super easy and will only take a few minutes of your time. The instructions are below. We have included a script. All you have to do is make the call!

Things to remember:

1. The constituency office staff will likely ask for your personal information.
2. There is NO NEED to engage in conversation. For example, if you are asked for clarification on something simply state that you are just calling to register a concern and a solution to that concern.
3. STAY ON SCRIPT! We need the MLAs to hear the same message over and over. A different script will be used every time we conduct the campaign.
4. Be POLITE and RESPECTFUL! We cannot expect MLAs to work along with us if we treat them with disdain and by using harsh language. 

SCRIPT FOR TELEPHONE CAMPAIGN

Hi there, my name is (insert name) and I am calling today because I am concerned that the province of Saskatchewan does not require parental consent for a young teenager to have an abortion.

The relationship between parents and children is very important.

Since abortion has lasting effects, particularly when the patient is young I believe parents are in the best position to cooperate with the health care professionals so that physicians can use their best judgement when providing care for a young pregnant teen.

As a member of the government, Mr./Mrs. (MLA last name) knows that strong families are a core building block for society.

I am calling because I support a parental consent for abortion act. Our province needs this legislation in order to foster family unity and help to preserve the family as a viable social unity.

Please pass on to Mr./Mrs. (MLA last name) that I would like him/her to do whatever possible so that Saskatchewan will protect vulnerable pregnant teens with a parental consent law.
