WHILE PREPARED FOR THE LONG ROAD IT IS GREAT TO SEE MOMENTUM BUILDING!

April 3, 2014

Regina, SK - Support continues to grow in Saskatchewan for a law that requires parental consent for a minor to have an abortion.

“Recently I was able to speak to hundreds of people at events in Moose Jaw and Regina about the need for a parental consent law and the response was overwhelming,” said Mike Schouten, the spokesperson for the campaign. “We launched this initiative only two short months ago and residents of Saskatchewan are responding with incredible enthusiasm.”

The campaign is a grassroots effort to build support in the public for a parental consent law. Resources are available at sk.parentalconsent.ca for people of Saskatchewan to communicate with their neighbours, co-workers, family, and their elected officials.

“We know that a change in policy will only occur when there is enough support in the public,” continued Schouten. “The folks I speak with are pretty excited about the potential of their province being the first to have a parental consent law. While we are prepared for a long road, it is great to see momentum building.”

Currently there are no provinces that require parental consent for a minor to receive an abortion.
